Kashmir students assault : Harayana police arrests three among six identified persons | KNO

Three persons have been arrested in connection with assault on Kashmiri students by Harayana police on Saturday. “We have arrested three among the six identified persons. They too will be arrested very soon,” Director General of Police (DGP) B.S. Sandhu, IPS He said that the persons were identified from the footage which was already procured by the police. Station House officer (SHO) Mahendergarh, Inspector Ramesh Kumar identified three arrested as Arvind, Suresh, Satveer. He said that three other accused persons include Pankaj, Ram Niyas, Yogesh. “We have constituted a SIT headed by IGP Dr CS Roy and have procured a video clip which will help us to identify those responsible”, Sandhu had said on Friday evening, adding that strict action will be taken against those found involved. The IGP, he had said will also interact with the students who have been beaten. The students of Harayana central university were beaten while returning to campus after offering Friday prayers. The incident took place Mahendergarh town. Soon after the reports, the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and her predecessor Omar Abdullah took to twitter and condemned the assault. “Shocked & disturbed to hear reports of Kashmiri students being assaulted in Mahendargarh, Haryana,” had tweeted Mehbooba and urged authorities to investigate and take strict action. Omar Abdullah also reacted sharply and termed the incident against the spirit of Prime Minister Narender Modi’s speech on August 15 calling for embracing Kashmiris "This is terrible & goes against the spirit of what @PMOIndia @narendramodi ji said from the ramparts of the Red Fort. I hope the authorities in Haryana act quickly against this violence," had tweeted Omar Abdullah who is also working president of National Conference and leader of opposition in state legislative assembly. Following the tweets, Director General of Police (DG), J&K, SP Vaid had said that he has taken the matter with their counterparts in Haryana. “In touch with DGP Harayana. Police is taking cognizance of the incident,” DGP had tweeted.
